Stockholm

06—04—12

Just back from the land of half of my people! (You know I’m half-Scandinavian and half-Jewish, right?) The city is a total yin yang of historic luxe mixed with modern and cool—perfect for me. This is a great time of year to go; the days are getting longer and the light is incredible. Here, my must-dos.

Hotel
The Grand Hôtel Stockholm is a legendary classic with gorgeous harbor views and an amazing spa—and what’s Sweden without a Swedish massage?

Restaurants & Culture
AG is all about the super-trendy crowd, super-cool location and the best steak in the city. Mathias Dahlgren - Matsalen lives up to its rep for world-class, modern Scandinavian food; expensive but worth it.  The restaurant at the Moderna Museet has a great Sunday brunch, and the museum itself has a fabulously edited collection of modern art in a beautiful waterfront location.

Shopping
NK has everything from fashion to flowers to modern Scandinavian home design under one roof—fabulous. Nathalie Schuterman is the go-to spot for divine designer apparel and accessories for men, women and children. (Of course the Michael Kors women’s collection is part of the international mix!) And finally, the legendary food hall Östermalms Saluhall is the spot for great gifts to bring home. Just be warned—if you go hungry, you’re in trouble!
