Key West

04—01—12

Just back from a quick trip to one of my ultimate escape spots. Key West is so chill that every ounce of stress vanishes the minute I walk down the stairs of the plane and feel the warm breeze! I’ve been heading there for some 25 years; it’s a short flight from New York and it’s hard to find anywhere more charming. My go-to hotels are The Reach or Casa Marina, both in spectacular locations on a gorgeous stretch of beach. (Believe it or not, not so easy to find in Key West!) We rent mopeds at Moped Hospital for getting around, have breakfast at the hippie-ish Blue Heaven, drinks at La Te Da—great people watching!—and brave the tourist scene at Mallory Square for the food-truck conch fritters and sunsets. Divine!
