ALL ACCESS: ALEX'S ANGLE
02—08—13
Alex de Betak has been a part of the Michael Kors runway DNA for over 17 years—choreographing and producing the designer’s high-energy shows each season. The French producer splits his time between Paris and New York, so he’s no stranger to the Fashion Week frenzy. We caught up to talk about the show, décor shopping and where to take in some great art.
Where do you like to stay when you’re in NYC?
At The Mercer, though I also have an apartment on Prince Street in SoHo.
What’s your favorite Michael Kors piece in your closet?
A cashmere sweater. It’s warm, soft and ribbed—I wish I had more!
What’s your favorite thing about a Michael Kors show?
The fact that I have worked on every single one of them for more than 17 years now…time flies!
Where will you head for lunch after the show?
The Mercer Kitchen for a well-deserved black sea bass carpaccio and some crispy rice sushi.
And dinner?
Air France flight AF 009, seat 1A.
What do you never miss when in NYC?
Shopping for unique decorations and furniture at De Vera, Mantiques Modern and Wyeth. I’m also hoping to visit the Pace and Chelsea art galleries.
Do you have any special plans for Valentine’s Day?
Yes—but they’re exclusive and secret!
