ALL ACCESS: JOHN'S ANGLE02—07—13
John Pfeiffer has been working with Michael Kors for nearly a decade, casting the glamorous, fresh-faced models that walk his runways season after season. As he preps for next Wednesday’s show, John talks about New York Fashion Week—“it never gets old”—and his plans for celebrating a job well done. Margarita, anyone?
Where do you live in NYC?
Any favorite neighborhood hangouts?
Marcus Samuelsson’s restaurant The Red Rooster is my favorite place for a bite.
What’s your favorite Michael Kors piece in your closet?
Right now, a hooded army coat that’s completely lined with fur. It’s been a brutal winter and this has really kept me warm.
Describe it in three words.
I only need two: practical and luxurious.
What are your bag essentials for NYFW?
MacBook Air, iPad mini, iPhone and chargers.
What’s your favorite thing about a Michael Kors show?
The excitement and energy. In the moment just before the show starts—when the lights go down and the crowd goes quiet—the room feels like it’s about to burst with excitement. It never gets old.
Where will you head for lunch after the show?
Now that the shows are at Lincoln Center, my team and I head around the corner to Rosa Mexicano. Michael Kors is our last show of the week, so we just might celebrate with a mid-day margarita.
Dinner on Wednesday night will be on a flight to London. The season continues…
What do you never miss when in NYC?
I try to make time for yoga every day. When I’m in NYC, I practice at Jivamukti and Pure Yoga.
Do you have any special plans for Valentine’s Day?
I’ll be spending the day working on shows in London, away from my Valentine of the last 12 years. I hope to lasso a friend into dinner at either Scott’s or The Wolseley, two of my favorite restaurants in London.
RSVP now for the Fall 2013 Runway Show, live from Lincoln Center on February 13 at 10 AM.
