As Creative Director of Marie Claire, discerning judge for Project Runway and longtime Manhattanite, Nina Garcia is a fixture at New York Fashion Week. We caught up with her before the whirlwind sets in to talk clothes, power lunches and Valentine’s Day plans.
What’s your favorite Michael Kors piece in your closet?
I have collected many Michael Kors pieces throughout the years—from the fabulous furs to the cutout swimsuits—but my ultimate favorite is a perfect little black dress that fits like a glove.

What are your handbag essentials for NYFW?
My handbag is my killer essential.
What’s your favorite thing about a Michael Kors show?
You are transported into his dream—it all starts with the music.
Where will you head for lunch after the show?
After the show, I will probably grab a bite at the Lincoln just a few steps away. The menu is eclectic and the portions are perfect.

What do you never miss when in NYC?
I always make it a point to stop in at the art galleries in Chelsea.
Do you have any special plans for Valentine’s Day?
The Carlyle for drinks and good jazz.
