It’s been years since I visited Madrid, and I’m so happy I recently got the chance to catch up with this fabulous town. It’s everything you’d hope for in a Spanish city: sexy, glamorous and romantic with great people watching—always my favorite way to get inspired! The streets are packed day and night with chic girls, who know how to mix up their style—and their cocktails. One of my favorite moments? Waiting on line to buy a pair of the amazing, traditional Spanish espadrilles at Casa Hernanz. Everyone from cool young girls to elegant grandmothers seemed to be waiting there with us.
SEE & DO | MADRID
AC Santo Mauro “An old-world classic! This elegant former residence of a Madrid aristocrat is in the perfect neighborhood for a museum junkie like me.”
Casa Lucio “Love this restaurant! The best classic Spanish food in Madrid. Reminds me of my favorite steakhouse in New York, Peter Luger’s.”
Luzi Bombon “This restaurant is all about the trendy crowd and cool scene in a chic midcentury modern setting—perfect for the kind of late nights where someone ends up dancing on the table.”
Mercado de San Miguel “One of the oldest covered markets in Madrid, located in a beautiful Beaux Arts building. There’s fabulous food to nosh right on the spot, like Essex Street Market in NYC, but here you can grab a wine too. Nothing better!”
Michael Kors “Our new Madrid store at Calle Serrano 32 scores a triple-E rating: exciting, energetic and elegant.”
Prado Museum “A grand, world-class museum with a phenomenal collection of old-world masters—and a veritable treasure trove of Goyas.”
Reina Sofia “Spain’s MOMA…Miro, Dali, Gris are all there. But the must-see? Picasso’s Guernica. It’s incredibly moving.
